The end!

Cap du Sud - Bastia: 20km - 3h20min

Avevamo ipotizzato un rientro difficile ed invece una leggera brezza a favore ci spinge verso nord: in poco più di tre ore siamo a Bastia.
Alle quattro del pomeriggio, dopo 710 Km, entriamo nel porticciolo turistico dal quale siamo partiti 26 giorni fa, completando il periplo della Corsica con una rilassata andatura turistica ed in condizioni meteo-marine straordinariamente favorevoli (salvo che per il "battesimo" di Capo Corso!).
Vicino allo scivolo di alaggio del porticciolo c'è un cantiere nautico: decidiamo di lasciare lì i kayak per i tre giorni in più che avevamo calcolato in caso di mare impraticabile e che non abbiamo utilizzato - e non valeva certo la pena di attardarsi lungo il monotono litorale sabbioso orientale!.
Il proprietario del cantiere ci accoglie con una grande sorriso: Avete fatto il giro in kayak? Si, ma siamo arrivati tre giorni prima. E allora fatene un'altro!
Poi ci dice che viene sovente in Italia e che incontra sempre persone gentili e disponibili: ci chiede "solo" una bottiglia di vino rosé per il rimessaggio dei kayak!
Prendiamo da lui una macchina a noleggio e ci imbottigliamo subito nel traffico di Bastia.
Il ritorno alla civiltà è oltremodo traumatico: per fumare Mauro scende dall'auto e ci precede a piedi fuori città. Dario ci offre una pizza ad Erbalunga, dove avevamo fatto la prima pausa del viaggio in kayak: per la notte, invece, torniamo a montare le tende sulla spiaggia dell'ultimo pranzo nautico, consumato all'ombra della pineta prospiciente il grande stagno di Biguglia.
Su quattro ruote a motore le distanze si azzerano: ora che siamo rimasti soli perché anche Dario ha preso il traghetto per tornare sulla terraferma, ci intrufoliamo nell'interno alla ricerca di fresco e di verde.
Sbagliando: troviamo ancora caldo e caos!
Scriviamo questo messaggio seduti ad un tavolino dell'affollato centro storico di Corte, il cuore della Corsica: i borbottii di Mauro si interrompono solo per far sparire uno dopo l'altro boccali freschi di birra Pietra...

Cap du Sud - Bastia: 10nm - 3h20min
A light breeze pushes our kayaks to north: we reach Bastia in less than three hours.
At four o'clock in the afternoon, after 710 Km, we finally reach the little touristic harbour from where we have started this sea kayak trip 26 days ago. We have so completed the circumnavigation of hte island with a relaxed speed and with extraordinarily favorable weather conditions (except for the "baptism" and the "night navigation" in Cape Corse!).
There is a nautical center near the slipway of the harbour: we decide to live there the kayaks for the next three days.
The manager of the center welcomes us with a great smile: Did you paddle around the island? Yes, but we arrived three days before. Then start for another one - he says.
Then he tells us about Italy and Italians: I come to your country quite often and I usually meet nice people. He ask for the garaging just a bottle of rosè wine!
We take a rental car and we immediately bottle into the traffic.
The return to the civilization is extremely traumatic: Mauro get off the car to smoge and going by foot he precedes us out of the town. Dario invites us for a pizza in Erbalunga, where we have had our first pit-stop, and for the night we come back to the beach near Biguglia pond, where we have had our last lunch break.
With a car the distances are completely reset: now we are totally alone, just Mauro and me, because Dario has also take the ferry. We decide to explore the inland of the island looking for green landscape and fresh air. Being wrong: we foung again hot and chaos!
We're writing this post while we're sitting in a typical coffee bar in the historical center of Corte, the heart of Corsica: Mauro stops mumble just for drinking one after the other fresh cups of beer Pietra...
